Beachy Bathroom Makeover

The bathroom is finally done!
It was mixed emotions getting rid of the ducks but I have finally come to terms that my "baby" will be turning 4 today!

Enjoy the tour, a few more tweaks like shelving and a new throw rug but I couldn't keep you in suspense any longer.

You can read about my lantern project here

I repainted over the buttery cabinets that I had previously painted. The pulls I had already purchased at Anthropologie a few years ago.

I couldn't resist when I saw the #3. It's a great place to store their toothbrushes.

Find out how we transformed our mirrors here

You can read about my sign transformation here

Here is the cost breakdown
Paint $20 (Lowes)
Mirror $24 (Home Depot)
Curtain $4 (Marshalls)
Paddle $12 (Marshalls)
Lanterns $0 (homemade)
Sign $4 (homemade)
Towels $20 (Ross and Marshalls)
Toothbrush Holder $3 (Marshalls)
Towel Holder $6 (Marshalls)
Light Fixture $77 (Lowes)
Lots of shopping of the house free

Here is the before picture.
Sorry, no picture of it when we first moved in with white walls

After I painted the cabinets buttery

And now

It's never boring around here that's for sure

I hope I have shown you that you don't have to spend a ton of money to have the feel of a whole new room. A little bit of paint, some creativity and elbow grease can do amazing things!

Thank you for stopping in!

I'm linking up to Kate's Bathroom party
 (that sounds funny)

Love the new Look. I especially love the candle holders, but I am not brave enough to put them out since we had a fire from a candle (you can read about it on my blog). I soo... wnat to put some bead board up in my bathroom, but right now we have too many other projects going on!

I love the beachy look of the room and the painted cabinets. I'm sure a tear or two was shed over the loss of the ducks, but the room looks wonderful. Happy birthday to your little one!

It looks great! I am loving the lanterns and the #3 bucket!

The bathroom looks wonderful. I would have had a hard time painting over the duckies too. I am sure you felt like you were erasing part of your babies childhood. You are acknowledging that he is growing up. Ugh. That is so hard. My baby just turned 4 too at the end of April. Just yesterday I heard him tell a kid at the park, "I'm not little, cause I'm 4 now." Too funny. I hope he has a wonderful day!

I want to share a tip, but this might
not be the place to do it? I'll do it
anyway.. Please don't store toothbrushes
in the open.. think of the toilet flushing,
the spray/mist, go's a long way!

Cute, cute bathroom! Your boys sure have a beautiful and talented mom. I'm loving the Valspar Gravity. I have a question....did you paint the inside of your cabinet? Twice?? I have a wood vanity, kind of like yours, but the idea of painting the interior, keeps me from tackling this project. I'll keep your little secret either way. ;~)

Kristin @ My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia said...

Hi Lori-
I couldn't gain access to your blog or email...sorry, hope you read this :) I did paint the interior doors and trim. Once you get going it's not too bad :) Good luck to you, I know you will be so happy you did it once your done!

I think the rug has to go...try a jute rug instead. I'd break away the blue cabinetry from the blue rug and go well with the "beach" theme you are after!

Ok, can I tell you how excited I am I stumbled by your blog! I am painting out kitchen cabinets tomorrow and am so nervous! Reading through your kitchen re-do post makes me a lot less nervous and most just excited! Plus I love your idea to paint the bathroom cabinets a color! I have been very conflicted, can't do white because the countertop is a light beige marble and black seems to dark in a smaller bathroom. Thanks! Your blog is GREAT!

Stephenie from Decorating Addiction said...

Love your bathroom renovation! The blue you picked for the vanity is soft and cozy. I really, really like the lanterns. We don't have a lot of space in our downstairs bathroom (pedastal sink) so I've often wished we had room for candles when I take a bath. Hanging the lanterns on hooks is brilliant! I am headed to the tutorial now. Thanks for the inspiration.
